One of the most unexpected and exciting parts of my job has been the opportunity to travel for work. Up until now, most of my travel has been pretty local — think Bethesda and Old Town Alexandria — where I’ve helped coordinate smaller conferences and events. But next week? I’m headed to Texas for a huge national conference, and I could not be more excited! 🛫
It’s a pretty big deal — everyone at work was trying to get a spot, and I was actually wait-listed until just last week. When I got the email confirming I was in, I immediately started doing what any normal person would do… planning my outfits. Obviously.
First up: the perfect travel outfit for my flight to Texas. I wanted something comfortable, stylish, and a little bit on theme (hello, cowgirl boots!). Here’s what I’m packing and why each piece is a must-have for travel days.

Victoria Midi Dress (Rented from Nuuly)||Puff Sleeve Denim Jacket||The Children’s Place Girls’ Western Cowgirl Boot||Steve Madden Designer Luggage Collection – Lightweight Softside Expandable Suitcase – 20 Inch Carry On Bag with 4-Rolling Spinner Wheels (Chalet Pink, 20in)||Tilly Trolley Sleeve Tote – Printed Monogram||Beats Studio Pro x Kim Kardashian – Bluetooth Noise Cancelling Headphones||Supergoop! Glowscreen SPF 40, Sunrise||LANEIGE Lip Glowy Balm||6 pack Small Hoop Earrings for Women||Aviator Sunglasses
My Travel Day Outfit
Victoria Midi Dress (Rented from Nuuly)
I’m obsessed with Nuuly lately — renting clothes has been such a game-changer for trips and events where I want to look cute but don’t necessarily want to commit to buying a whole new wardrobe.
The Victoria Midi Dress is breezy, soft, and the perfect weight for travel. Plus, midi dresses are basically made for airport comfort: no tight waistbands, no weird bunching when you sit for hours on a plane, just effortless style.
Puff Sleeve Denim Jacket
Airplanes are always freezing, and Texas can have wild weather swings, so a puff sleeve denim jacket is a non-negotiable. The puff sleeves give it a little extra style — it’s not just a plain denim jacket, it’s an outfit.
Tip: Always layer when traveling. You never know if you’re going to be hot, cold, or somewhere in between.
The Children’s Place Girls’ Western Cowgirl Boots
Okay, hear me out: I have small feet, and the Children’s Place Girls’ Western Cowgirl Boots fit perfectly — and were such a good deal!
They’re super lightweight, which is key for travel, and give my travel look that Western flair without looking like I’m trying too hard. Plus, they’re surprisingly comfy for walking through the airport.
Steve Madden Designer Luggage Collection – Lightweight Softside Expandable Suitcase (Chalet Pink, 20in)
I have a soft spot for pink luggage, and this Steve Madden 20-inch carry-on suitcase is a dream. It’s lightweight, it rolls like a dream with its 4-spinner wheels, and it’s expandable (hello, extra conference swag on the way home!).
The Chalet Pink color also makes it SO easy to spot on the luggage carousel — or at least it would if I were checking it. 😉 Carry-on life for the win!
Tilly Trolley Sleeve Tote – Printed Monogram
My Tilly Tote is my ride-or-die personal item. It slides right over my suitcase handle (thank you, trolley sleeve!), holds everything I need for the flight — laptop, snacks, skincare, book — and looks chic while doing it. Plus, the printed monogram gives it a super personal touch.
Featured: Beats Studio Pro x Kim Kardashian – Bluetooth Noise Cancelling Headphones
The sleek, neutral shades are stunning, and the noise-canceling feature are a total game-changer for long travel days. Whether you’re tuning into a podcast, binging your favorite playlist, or just blocking out airport noise, these headphones are a serious travel upgrade if you’re looking to invest.
Supergoop! Glowscreen SPF 40, Sunrise
Traveling dries out your skin so fast, and I always wear SPF when flying because those plane windows let in a surprising amount of UV rays.
Supergoop! Glowscreen is my go-to — it hydrates, protects, and gives my skin a dewy glow even if I’m feeling tired from an early morning wake-up call.
LANEIGE Lip Glowy Balm
Another hydration essential: LANEIGE Lip Glowy Balm.
Airplane air = chapped lips, but this balm keeps my lips soft and glossy. Plus, it smells amazing. I always throw it in my travel tote for easy touch-ups.
6 Pack Small Hoop Earrings for Women
I love simple accessories for travel. The 6-pack of small hoop earrings make me feel a little more put-together without worrying about anything too heavy or flashy.
Hoops add just the right amount of polish to a comfy travel outfit.
Aviator Sunglasses
You never know when you’ll need them, whether it’s for bright airport lighting, harsh sun in Texas, or just looking effortlessly cool. Aviator sunglasses are timeless and make any outfit feel a little more “off-duty model” chic.
Final Thoughts: Travel Style Tips
If you’re putting together your own work travel outfits, here are a few quick tips:
-
Comfort is key — soft fabrics, layers, and stretchy fits will be your best friends.
-
Pack smart — carry-on if you can, and make sure your personal item is roomy enough for essentials.
-
Accessories elevate everything — sunglasses, small earrings, and a stylish tote can make even a simple outfit feel intentional.
-
Hydration, hydration, hydration — your skin (and lips!) will thank you after a long travel day.
I can’t wait to get to Texas, soak up all the learning and networking at the conference, and maybe even sneak in some good BBQ or a little shopping.
Stay tuned for more posts on what I’m wearing for the conference days themselves — because you know I’ve already been planning those looks too. ðŸ¤
