If you’ve been paying any attention, you might know that I’m in three weddings this spring. A couple weekends ago, I had my first wedding event of the season to kind of kick it off. I’ve known Juliana (Little Jules) basically my whole life and literally all of hers. My sister, Jules, and I did pretty much everything together for twelve years. Trick or treating, Christmas pageants, Easter Egg hunts- everything. Her Parents are Uncle Walt and Aunt Jules, mine are Aunt Mathy and Uncle Andy. That’s just how it always was. Our real cousins even knew each other. Her little sister is even named Caroline. (side note- “Little” Caroline is now about a head taller than me.) I’m representing my family as one of her bridesmaids, frankly, because my little sister, Candace, will be busy guardian-angeling over the wedding. It’s been bittersweet, but I’ll be there for Juliana like I know she’ll be there for me one day.
My mom wanted to do something special for Jules, so she got together with Anita, another mom we grew up with, and threw an amazing tea party for close friends and family of the bride. I loved that it was at my parents’ home because so many of us there had celebrated with each other for various other events. At least two of the guests had their baby showers (as in- they were the babies) in that same house. This is definite perk of my parents staying in the same place for 27 years. Anita and my mom did most of the food, my dad made chicken Florentine special for Aunt Jules, and one of Anita’s daughters hand made the most amazing biscotti. I’m not sure that many readers will necessarily care about all of these details, but it was just the sweetest afternoon- complete with mimosas and some sentimental tears. I definitely get my love of detail from my mom and I’m so thankful. I’ll probably do a few more posts like these before I’m all done in June, hopefully you all can bear with me and my wedding madness until then.
