This post was totally inspired by Talia’s Instagram inquiry for what suggestions on products for cracked, dry hands.
As soon as the heat kicks on at work and home, I can feel a huge difference in my skin – face, body, and hands. My routine changes slightly to battle winter skin blues.
As a skincare addict, I’ve tried a lot of different face products but I have ONE trusty chapstick and it’s the Palmer’s Swivel Stick. Maybe this was a St. Andrew’s thing, but I feel like most of the girls started using the “glue stick” and I, for one, have never looked back. For the rest of my face, let me just preface this with – I do not use all of those products at the same time. The CLINIQUE Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion is just what I’m using at night now since I fee like my face needs something more than a light gel this time of year. Lancôme Moisturizing Rose Jelly Overnight Mask is a great night mask, but you don’t need it every night, just when your skin is extra thirsty (maybe after a weekend of wearing heavier makeup or enjoying a coupl bevs). I keep sleep retreat overnight oil gel at my parents’ house. It’s really nice but, again, I wouldn’t want to use it every night. It’s extremtly moisturzing. Fourth Ray’s face milks are great if your moisturizer needs a little extra boost OR you can use them as a makeup primer. My friend Rachel gave me the Summer Fridays Overtime Mask and not only will it make your face smell like pumpkin pie, it’ll slough away dry, flaky skin. Which brings me to…
The Feeling Smitten Whipped Sugar Scrub that Julia gifted to me is one of the best scrubs I’ve ever used. I always use a scrub before I shave my legs, but when the air is dry I tend to use it every time I shower or I get itchy. Johnson’s Baby Shea & Cocoa Butter Lotion for Sensitive Skin is NOT just for babies. It’s soothing and smells so good and doesn’t leave me feeling greasy. I also opt for cream washes like IN THE STARS Moisturizing Body Wash this time of year vs shower gel.
I always keep lotion at my desk, especially in my office because the soap in the restrooms is so drying. J.R. Watkins Natural Moisturizing Hand Cream is my favorite because a little goes a long way and it smells so nice without being overpowering. C.O. Bigelow All Purpose Sakura Rose Salve has SAVED my cuticles this year. I wasn’t even picking at them and they were bleeding. I just use a little bit when I’m getting ready in the morning and then again at night and I’m good as new.Â
What are your winter skin faves?
