I’m incredibly impatient when I know what I want. Right now, it’s August, and I’m want fall. Autumn. Halloween. While doing some chores last weekend, I had American Horror Story playing in the background. I got to thinking about possibly throwing an elegant but creepy Halloween party. Wheels are in motion with one of my favorite partners in crime, and I can’t wait to share the details!
Although my favorite season of American Horror Story, by far, is Freak Show, probably because that would be the one to scare me most irl, I have to give a nod to Coven for the amazing outfits. Zoe, played by Taissa Farmiga (second from the right below) had the chicest witchy style, in my opinion, but I also loved Lily Rabe’s Stevie Nicks inspired Misty.

These looks fall into a category that I’d like to call #CovenVibes. To date, one of my favorite looks on the blog was my #CovenVibes look I styled for Amanda and Whistle & Wild.
Pre-Coven, I grew up with a fascination with witches. My cat was named Tabitha after the daughter in Bewitched, we never missed an episode Sabrina, Hocus Pocus (actually… Halloweentown too!) was a household event, and I think only I liked Teen Witch but I REALLY loved Teen Witch. Weirdly enough, I never got into Harry Potter, but that’s neither here nor there for the purpose of this post. I just loved these powerful ladies who could make things happen.
I think we all have a little magic in us. Whether we harness it with our faith, or by using nature, or our shear willpower- women are magical. And I think it’s fun to sometimes dress the part.
