Wedding season is nearly upon us, and with all of the hacks, tips, tricks and creative suggestions that are flying about on the internet at the moment, the basics to simple planning are leaving us.

You may be getting so wrapped up in the perfect table plan, the most delicious food to present to your guests and quirky little decorations that will be adorning your reception venue, that you have completely bypassed the most important things.

So here’s a little reminder of the top 3 things that all brides and grooms need to have on their big day…

Opal Wedding Ring Set

Rings

This is probably one of the least forgotten things, but it has been known for couples to be stressing and fretting before the big day because they’ve left it to the last minute to get their wedding rings. If this marriage is going to last (fingers crossed), this is something that you will be wearing on your finger for the rest of your life – so make a choice that you know you can stick with and love for the rest of your days together. If you have already made your choice with designer engagement rings previously, then there may be something available in terms of wedding rings that can match what you already have. If not, start looking soon; you don’t have to go too fancy for this metal band, as the sentiment behind it will always remain the same.

Dress and Suits

If you are hiring suits for your big day, make sure that everybody has been fitted prior and that what you want is available. Leave it too late, or have members of your wedding party be too tardy when it comes to arranging appointments for their fitting, and you could be left with something that you don’t want or absolutely nothing at all. For the bride, make sure that you have the dress of your dreams; you don’t want to be looking back on photos or how you were feeling on the day and realize that it wasn’t really what you wanted, and that you had chosen it under the duress of time constraints. Get ahead of the game and ensure that you are booked in with several fitting appointments so that it fits correctly.

The Venue

Book ahead, book ahead, book ahead. It cannot be said enough. And by ahead, this doesn’t mean weeks or months – it could potentially mean years. The venue of dreams for you is possibly the venue of a myriad of other people’s dreams too, and reputable places will have a waiting list. You could get lucky and fall upon a cancellation, but this is very rare. If you are planning a reception at the house or property of a family member or friend then you have little to worry about, but this should be discussed well in advance as well – it’s just common courtesy and will keep you in good favor. You never know, they may even offer to help out with more than just the venue!
