I have been so, so, so lucky to be able to be at home with my parents for over a year now. Between my divorce taking way longer than be anticipated, plus, obviously, a global pandemic, it just makes sense to sit tight and enjoy this season (of life and winter) in the place I feel the most safe in the world. I realize that this is a huge privilege, especially during a year when some people don’t get the chance to see their family at all.

That being said, y’all know that I’m super excited to eventually get back to DC. I’m 90% sure I’ll actually move back to my old apartment complex in Glover Park. Between loving the area, knowing and liking the management, utilities being included, and Sarah buying a house down the street, I can just feel my old neighborhood calling to me.

One of the things I can’t wait for is to live on my own for the very first time. I went from living at home to living with Meg and Alex (which I loved), to living with Kendall. I’ve never built a home, for myself, by myself, about myself. Yes, I had amazing spaces and Kendall and I actually did a pretty good job of compromising, but it’ll be awesome to have something I’ve created all on my own. This means a lot of out with the old, in with the new.

I’m super thankful that my parents don’t mind that the bedroom in our basement has turned into Caroline’s Future Furniture Emporium. My bedroom is almost done (thanks to mama’s Target card), minus a dresser because I’m not sure if I’ll need vertical or horizontal. My living room has pretty much been purchased except for lighting. My Auntie Steph is an actual ANGEL and got me my seating. While I had an idea when I started out of what I wanted, it’s evolved a little bit.

You’ll notice that a lot of the furniture is Vasagle. Before furnishing my entire apartment in it, I actually ordered the Alinru nightstand to use as a table to for record player. It was quality and easy to put together, so I figured the rest of the furniture would be too! This post doesn’t include any of my little office space set-up, I’ll probably do a separate post on that, but after this year I think we’ve all realized it’s important to have one.

Originally, I had planned NAVY NAVY NAVY! But after I found the rug, I decided to incorporate rose quartz and marigold. Both colors make me so happy, and my friend Tiff got me a GORGEOUS rose quartz tray that I’ll use on the coffee table. (Not the one pictured below, but I couldn’t find anything super close.)

This obviously also doesn’t include any of the art I’ve been collecting. Can’t wait for a gallery wall behind the couch! I’m also thinking about navy curtains to kind of tie it all together. Thoughts?
