I’ve said this before but when I get my own place, I want to vibe of the bedroom to be “mid century modern beach motel”. Sandy beige and pink, with some teals to add a little depth. I actually already have some of the art that I was considering, ready to have printed when Zazzle has a poster sale. I even created my own poster, based on my favorite Melanie Martinez song, to put over the bed.
I’m a super visual person, and I often use my blog as a virtual dollhouse. Putting together mid-century inspired pieces, all budget friendly, in one post, is so satisfying for me. Realizing that I could put together the entire bedroom of my dreams from TARGET? Even more satisfying.
When I move back to DC, there’s a good chance that it’ll be to my last apartment complex. Park Crest in Glover Park was a wonderful place to live. Although there was plenty of closet space, creative storage in an apartment is paramount. I love that I found a bed in the style that I like WITH storage that’s not just under the bed. I would actually use the vanity as a desk, and the apartment required rugs in spaces with wood floors. I would have wanted some kind of rug anyway.
I really like that this furniture is also like a blank canvas. If I decide in a few years I want to switch up colors or something, it would be easy to do that with the bones I have in place.
Where’s your favorite place to hunt for furniture? And have you had luck ordering bigger pieces from Target?
The lamp and bedding are so visually/texturally satisfying. This is a great look and I can’t wait to see it come to life!
