Saturday night. It’s been going back and forth between almost pleasant and frigid all day. I had the window open for a minimal amount of time this afternoon and I’m still trying to warm up. Chicken and dumplings, prepared with love last night, have been consumed. I’m doing laundry and watching a show about hostages. Kendall is finally getting a chance to relax and play some Rocket League. Our taxes are done. I’m in flannel pajama pants with candles lit all over the apartment. I am home, I am cozy, I am thankful.
This time of year is not the easiest. It’s kind of just cold and dark. January seems to last forever. I came home from work Friday night seeing red because of someone else’s attitude. I let it get to me. I had a really nice cry and it helped, but everything just felt/ feels kind of heavy. What we need at this point in our year is lightness. Sartorial rules have loosened to the point of almost disappearing- you don’t have to wear dark colors from Labor Day to Easter anymore. Use the landscape and weather as your inspiration- fluffy white and soft greys and browns totally fit in with the season.
