Ok guys- so you’ve seen the post where I picked out my bedroom furniture. I ended up actually getting most of that and my parents are angels (again) for letting me store it in the basement bedroom. The bed is back ordered until October, but it’s not like I need it, as it looks like I’ll be here at least another year.
You’ve also seen my pink and teal art picks from a while ago. But something I’ve decided is that not everything has to be so matchy matchy. There’s a general theme I want, for sure – pink and teal pastels and pop art. Once I started hunting on Etsy, I found pieces and shops that just spoke to me. Somehow I think this all works.
I’m a huge movie buff and American Horror Story fan, so I picked some of my favorite movies and my favorite season of AHS. I think these posters have a cohesive vibe, color wise. The motel and beach pictures are pretty self explanatory and the Play Date poster was actually something I made myself, inspired by my favorite Melanie Martinez song.
I’m sure I won’t have an infinite amount of space, so I’m going to stop after these, but I have more retro beach/motel picks saved on Etsy in case I want to completely cover my walls (I MIGHT!).
What do you think? When you look for art do you look for themes? Colors? Something else?
I love your ability to develop a theme through such distinctly different pieces! Hanging art on the walls has been a work in project for almost a year now for us lol. One thing I will say is that you want to wait until you see how you live in your space before you buy too much. I had so many ideas for our house in the months leading up to us moving in – then once the pandemic hit in month 4 of being here – it made me realize how differently we USE our space. Go in with some ideas, but let your room function aide in the design process. I can’t wait to visit and see it all come together in-person!
