Everyone wants their wedding day to go off without a hitch. The idea of something going disastrously wrong can seem like your worst nightmare. However, the more you picture the perfect day, the worse it can feel if anything does happen. If you can prepare for a couple of little glitches, or even some big ones, you won’t be sent into a complete tailspin when disaster strikes. Even when you’ve done your best to prepare, you can still come across some challenges that might be hard to deal with. Here’s how you might choose to tackle a few of the issues that could crop up on your big day.

Activate Your Backup Plan

If you’re lucky and have planned well, you might have a backup plan you can use. Obviously, you can’t have a contingency plan for everything. However, there are some major events that you can consider. For example, you can consider the weather on your wedding day. This is especially important if you’re planning on getting married or celebrating outdoors. What will you do if the weather takes a turn for the worst? Another thing you could consider is transport. What can you do if someone is delayed or the transport you have booked falls through? If you plan for these things, they will be easier to deal with.

Speedy DIY

A quick bit of DIY can often save the day when you’re facing a potential wedding disaster. It could help to ensure that the wedding goes ahead, even if it isn’t exactly as originally planned. Some DIY could help you out in many situations, from the caterers canceling at the last minute to some unexpected guests arriving. Of course, you don’t have to do it all yourself. For example, your wedding party could help you make some last-minute decorations. Your guests could all bring a dish for the wedding meal if you’ve suddenly got no food.

Same-day Services

Some quick thinking and fast action could help you access the right services to help you out. It’s not always possible, but some services might be able to provide you with what you need on the day of your wedding. These could be anything from florists to someone to officiate your ceremony. For example, the Camelback Flowershop’s same day flower delivery service and others like it could help to rescue you if your flower order falls through. Of course, these services will be more helpful if you know you need them the day before or the morning of the wedding.

Beg and Borrow

If something has gone wrong, sometimes the best course of action is to do whatever it takes. That can mean asking your wedding guests to see who can help out. Someone might have a car you can borrow or a set of rings you can use as placeholders during the ceremony. You might be able to borrow a sound system from someone or find some spare chairs for unexpected guests.

You don’t have to let small glitches ruin your wedding day. If something could go wrong, think on your feet and find a way to fix it.

  1. The best backup is your team and knowing that there is someone (even more than one?!) who has your back. I always emphasize choosing your maid of honor for her skills as well as her love for you. You want someone who knows what you need and will remind you to eat lunch so you won’t faint during the ceremony. Your vendors should go to HER if they run out of cake or the band members have the flu. You know- a worker bee who cares for you is the best!

  2. Luckily I have two amazing worker bees in mind for when my day comes! 2 very organized ladies that did very well with their own weddings!
