If you didn’t know that Thailand was called the Land of Smiles before, just take a trip out there and you will see why. For many, it is the ultimate travel destination – a dizzying mix of bustling megacities, glorious islands, spiritual awakenings, delicious food, and all-night parties. In this article, we are going to be talking about a few of the experiences that you have to enjoy when you are in this wonderful country.

Eat at a Food Market

Though there are plenty of fancy restaurants in the more tourist-heavy parts of Thailand, some of the best food is found on the street. So, grab yourself a tiny stool and sit down at one of the many fine eateries where the food is often cooked outside and you can watch the world rush by in front of you.

Take a Tuk-Tuk Ride

One of the most popular forms of transport around southeast Asia, tuk-tuks are everywhere and the drivers are extremely skilled at navigating the clogged traffic of the big cities with ease. If you have never ridden in one before, you may find this to be a nerve-wracking experience at first, but you will soon get used to it!

Dance All Night at a Full Moon Party

If you are the kind of person that loves to dance and party the night away, you have certainly come to the right place! Make sure you time your arrival on one of the Thai islands with the coming of the full moon. You are in for a night of neon paint, buckets of alcohol, flaming skipping ropes, and plenty of shapes being thrown!

Visit a Floating Market

Sometimes affectionately known as the Venice of the East, Bangkok features plenty of canal networks which flow through the center. Market-sellers of the city have made full use of these waterways by setting up stalls on their boats – a vibrant and colorful sight which you certainly have to see in person.

Bathe an Elephant

While riding an elephant is morally questionable to say the least, you can still get up close and personal with these magnificent creatures by bathing and feeding them in a nature park. Always make sure that you choose where you visit carefully so you can ensure that the elephants are being ethically treated.

Get in Touch with Your Spiritual Side

Thailand is home to a myriad of different temples and holy sites which are worth paying a visit to. You could also try out some Tantra Yoga Thailand or meditation. There are plenty of secluded spots where you can really get in touch with nature and your spiritual side.

Visit a Hill Tribe

Head up to the north of Thailand and you can pay a visit to one of the many hill tribes who have built their own communities and live off the land. There are plenty of organized tours that involve trekking through the forests to reach these secluded people.

Everyone wants a magical, perfect wedding, but if you’re really honest with yourself, you also want your wedding to stand out. No one likes to admit that they want their wedding to be better than the one that they attended a few months ago, but it’s the truth, and it’s fairly understandable. Your wedding should be as unique as you are, so if you want yours to stand out, then have a read of the out-of-the-box ideas listed below.

The Juliette Blush Wedding Dress

Avoid White

When you think of a wedding, the first thing that usually comes to mind is the white wedding dress. However, considering that white symbolizes innocence and purity, it might not necessarily apply to your relationship. If you want to stand out from the crowd, then skip the white wedding dress, and go for one of the many other colours available. You could even dress your bridesmaids in white, so you’ll really contrast.

Ready to Ship Wedding Favors

Fab Favors

Your favors are supposed to be your way of thanking your loved ones for attending your wedding. Youwant to be unique, so you can do something completely different. There are so many better ideas for favors, such as toys for the little ones, personalized bars or chocolate, wedding favours magnets, or even sunscreen if you’re having an outdoor wedding.

Guest Transportation

If your ceremony is a while away from your reception, then you’ll likely be transporting your guests between the venues. If this is the case, then why not make the journey fun and unique by choosing some really out-there transport. Black cabs, red double decker-buses, yellow school buses, or even hot air balloons are all options that you could consider and are all way more interesting than a boring wedding car or limousine.

Rent A Video Booth

Back in the day, photo booths were sure to give your wedding an air of uniqueness and were a really fun thing for your wedding guests to do. These days, they’re still fun, but they’re also incredibly common. Video booths, on the other hand, are a relatively new idea, and the fun clips that you get from them can be inserted into your wedding video and watched for years to come.

Take Dance Lessons

Most weddings involve the bride and groom having their first dance before anyone else is allowed on the dance floor. This is a lovely idea, and looks great on your wedding video, but isn’t very unique, especially if all you and your partner are doing is the waltz or even just swaying side to side. Instead of this, take some dance lessons, and kick it up a notch with a surprising routine. Anything out of the ordinary, like a street dance routine or a tango, is sure to get your wedding remembered.

Your wedding is the day that joins you and your partner together for the rest of your lives, so it’s important to make it special and unique. Hopefully, the tips above will give you some inspiration for your wedding.

TGIF

Happy Friday!

By the time this post goes live, I will be in Mississippi, probably still asleep because it’s a long drive and we’re driving it. The plan is to see some of Kendall’s family then head to Louisiana to spend time with his sister, her fiance, and the cutest nephew a girl could ask for. I’ll be flying back Monday, and a month later, he comes home to me.

This past Tuesday, some of the Bubbles & Bloggers girls met up to try out Oz Restaurant & Bar. I have a confession: I wanted to try it because the owner is Ashley Darby of Real Housewives of Potomac. Not only was the food tasty (seriously- I’d go back for just the biscuits) and the rose champs flowing, but we actually got to meet Ashley. She’s super sweet and a totally gracious host. Oz is def worth checking out- especially for their Happy Hour!

This week on The CaroLøve:

I love when big business acts responsibly. Good on Adidas for getting serious about making sneakers from ocean waste.

Kevin Lyman, the creator of Warped Tour, is one of my favorite people ever. And I couldn’t agree more with his 10 festival commandments. You don’t have to take my word for it, but this dude knows what he’s talking about.

Never stop creating. This guy is a 79-year-old child at heart, and he’s created the first electricity-free amusement park in the world, complete with roller coasters.

I found a dance studio in Friendship Heights that does beginner hip-hop for adults. I’m not totally a beginner, but I haven’t danced in years. Anyone want to hit up District Groove with me?

I’m a total sunglasses hoarder, and thanks to Sofie, I have a good idea of what I actually need to be looking for as I stockpile them.

I simply love love love love this outfit from Style Unsettled.

It’s almost a year old but how amazing does this recipe from Sweet Sundays for Earl Grey Truffles sound?

Have a great weekend! And don’t forget to follow my travels on Instagram!

If you want to treat her like royalty this Christmas and show her how much you appreciate everything that she does, then look no further, we may just have the answers right here.

Here are some of the best gift ideas – for her.

Romantic Dinner For Two

When was the last time you took her out to a top restaurant? Women love to eat out. They love having a reason to dress up really fancy! You could even take this idea a step further by going to the shops and choosing her a stunning dress (that she’ll adore), and even a new pair of shoes if you’re feeling extra awesome. Lay them out on the bed, along with a note telling her to put these on and be ready at 8pm. This will fill her up with so much excitement and it’ll be a great start to the evening!

Out To The Theater

If she likes the performing arts, then she’ll love a trip to the theater. Have a look at what plays are on and decide what she’d prefer. This is another good excuse for her to dress up. Go that extra step and get the best seat in the house. When the intervals start, make sure she has all the snacks and beverages she wants.

Relaxing Spa Day

Whether you want to get her a massage, a facial, a manicure or even treat her to one of the many wonderful spa packages, she is bound to feel like a princess. Allow her to bathe in the clearwater spas as she waits for another one of her special treatments. This will make a lovely gift, especially if she is always on the move, and never has time to take out for herself.

Dance The Night Away

Does she love to dance? If she does, then she would love this. Have a look in your area where they have a couples dance night. (Not the clubbing kind of dancing!) Sometimes they hold salsa nights, tango or waltz. This is a fun way for you both to loosen up a little and be silly. You don’t have to be the next John Travolta to do this, so there’s no excuse!

Ride Away To Paradise

If she has a love for animals, then horseback riding is a winner. Can you imagine riding away on your horses in the middle of a flower-filled meadow, or a sandy white beach next to the crystal blue ocean, watching the sunset? You can’t get more romantic than that. You could even take a break and have a picnic prepared with a bottle of something nice and even a few candles to set the scene.

Whatever you end up choosing, just know that it is the thought that counts. As long as she sees the effort that you’ve put in, she will love it. Even if it’s just a simple night in with movies and delicious takeout!

If you were paying attention on my Instagram last week, you might have seen that I went to a very important concert. Yellowcard has been one of my favorite bands since just before 9th grade. My friend Joanne had me tag along with her to my very first Warped Tour and we listened to all of her big brother’s cool music in the car. That was the first time I heard Ocean Avenue and I never looked back. I lost count of how many times I’ve seen them over the years- with my best friend Casey, at Warped Tour several times with other important friends, even by myself.

The rest of high school, Yellowcard’s music became like family to me. I danced in high school- that’s just who I was and what I did. I got into this a little bit on my Instagram post, but dance, music, and art were a huge reason I could complete high school (and with honors!) after losing my sister in 9th grade. Whether that meant curling up in a corner of the freshman hallway drowning out everything with Simple Plan, rocking out in my mom’s car with my bests to Outkast, or dancing my heart out in the studio to the picks of the rest of my dance co- music was everything. The end of my sophomore year, when I was ready, I choreographed a dance to View From Heaven that, as weird as it may sound, was really choreographing my feelings about losing my sister so young. I could physically project what was really complicated for me to comprehend. That dance was featured in the documentary, Prescription: Suicide? that I narrated, helped write, and that sent me on the path to study documentary film-making.

The following year, some of my best friends in the world, more like brothers and sisters, graduated a year ahead of me. I was super entangled in the class of ’06, even though I was a little bitty ’07. I’d been almost adopted by them as a freshman and after they left, I broke down completely one afternoon when I went looking for them only to remember that they were now in college. To commemorate their graduation, and also to work through some very complicated feelings about said graduation, I choreographed a piece to Only One. I think I was just as much The Yellowcard Girl as much I was The Dance Girl. I’m OK with that.

Seeing Yellowcard one last time, with Kendall by my side, I completely fell apart. I’m talking really ugly sobs. Really. Ugly. They were the same tears that fell when I carried the cross at the ’06 graduation at the National Cathedral. They were the same tears that still fall sometimes when I’m really missing Candace. It was like saying goodbye to a dear friend. Thank you, Yellowcard, for being one of the bands that was always, and will always be, there for me. My memories of my sister and some of my dearest friends will forever be entangled in this music.
