Happy Black Friday! I am probably 10 hours into a 17 hour drive and not doing any shopping today, but I’m excited to explore a new city with Kendall, adding Baton Rouge to the list! I hope everyone had a lovely day with family and friends yesterday.

Did you happen to catch my Like A Boss print on Lee’s Girl Boss Gift Guide?

With all the stress of the holidays coming up, I’m loving this Self Care Gift Box!

But speaking of self care, I’m also really in agreement with this article. Self care should not be a fad, but something you actually do to take care of yourself constantly. via Thought Catalogue

Happy Friday! As exhausted as I am, this week has just flown by! I feel like all of November is going to be like that. I’m definitely getting ready for snuggle season and this whole “falling back” we insist on doing has me a little out of whack. I need lists on lists on organization to get me through the holidays.

Tomorrow I’ll be working my little booth at the St. John’s Holly Harvest Festival, selling hard copies of the prints in my Etsy shop! I’m now also offering custom digital prints with your favorite quotes, song lyrics, etc. AND

ANNNNND…

I don’t know why it took me so long but I finally have a graphic t shop on Zazzle. I’ve wanted to design my own shirts since… forever! (A huge thank you to my sorority sisters for letting me design shirts for the house!) I have a few designs up now but I’m in major brainstorming mode for Christmas. You can find my designs right on the Shop page of my blog! Let me know if there’s anything you’d like to see for the holidays and beyond.

J. Crew is having a pretty awesome sale: 25% off full-price items including that new new with code GETSHOPPING.

I have been validated: I do NAHT need to wear heels for my wedding. (Not that I was going to anyway). via Over The Moon

Ok- so 2 weeks trying a new BB cream and here’s what I have to say about Holika Holika Pore Clearing Petit BB Cream with Tea Tree Oil and Sebum Control Powder: It’s a good thing I’m fair because this stuff is LIGHT. Also, it smells great and the coverage is amazing but, honestly, it’s not doing a thing for my skin. I had high hopes and was excited to try it, but I’ll be going back to my fave Neutrogena Healthy Skin Enhancer for everyday.

For the holidays, I’m putting together a gift guide of entirely women-owned small businesses. If you’d like to be included, shoot me an email {thecarolove@gmail.com}! There is no charge to you, as I just want to support small biz and women biz! I do already have certain vendors and won’t do repeat companies, but that is just about the only stipulation! For those of you who want to shop, let me know what kind of guides you’d like to see!

Have a great weekend!

One of my favorite trends to come out this spring has been statement earrings, and I know I’m not the only one! (Um hi BaubleBar, can we get these back in stock please?) I think I like the idea so much because statement earrings are such a good way to show your personality, even if you have a strict dress code. And this might sound totally weird, but to me they’re like a less inyourface version of the pompom sandal that it seemed like only bloggers were wearing last year. Does that make any sense?

I remember when I first got my ears pierced. I was in 9th grade and I fiddled with the studs so much that they actually popped out, got infected, and I had to have them re-pierced. When I could finally get to the point that I could safely change out of my sparkly safety studs, I was ecstatic. Even then, I was all about that statement earring life. I ended up getting two holes in each ear, and every outfit went with specific earrings. My favorite pair was from either Claire’s or Hot Topic. One was a guitar pick and the other a guitar because I was so ~*edgy*~. Now it’s kind of totally a thing to have mismatched ears!

The past couple years, I haven’t been great about wearing earrings at all. Just like everything else about me, my ears are super sensitive. If I remember, I put in either simple posts or easy Kendra Scott dangles, but some of the awesome statement earrings I’ve seen recently may have me going back to my old ways!

So March was… in like… something and out like probably the same thing (a mess) because the freaking weather has taken us all on such an emotional roller coaster. But April showers bring May flowers and now I’m giggling to myself because next April, Kendall and I will be celebrating our wedding at The Mayflower and how perfect is that? April is a special time of year for my family. My mom’s birthday is April 9th, as is my parents’ anniversary (celebrating 29 years this year WHATUP!) and my Uncle Jay and Aunt Jeanie happened to pick the same date for their own wedding 6 years later! Lots of love, lots to celebrate in April!

It’s also usually the first month of the year to really feel like spring! As much as I love getting into the winter cozies, I’m over it. Bring on the sunshine. And in that vein, I bring you my April wish list.

the carolove april wish list

  1. I’m kind of digging this Cupshe Melodic Blues One-piece Swimsuit. Has anyone ordered from Cupshe before? Thoughts?
  2. Last year, Target had this amazing straw tote with pompoms that I really wanted… until I got to the store and it was big enough I could have put a couple toddlers or a weeks worth of clothes in it. The Rainbow Pom Pom Tote from t+j is a much better size AND I love the colors!
  3. I found the Women’s Wildfox More Glitter Manchester Tee last Friday when I was super sad that our CFO was retiring. “More glitter, less bitter” is the best sad day mantra.
  4. I’m still determined to try rainbow highlighter, and at under $10, I won’t mind this little purchase once Lent is over!
  5. This is one of the cutest collabs I’ve seen! If you can’t pick just one color, the Clinique Crayola(TM) Chubby Lip Crayon Box is just the thing for you!
  6. I love my nude studded heels, but they’ve been about run into the ground. Yay for
Betseyville Naveah Gladiator Sandals and their under $50 price point!
  7. Not going to lie, part of the appeal of the Shashi Caroline Necklace is the name. But I also obviously love the style!
  8. I keep going back to these Rachelle Tassel Chandeliers from Stella & Dot.
  9. Kendall + I kind of want to have a vintage picnic themed engagement photo shoot, but for a real picnic, the ban.do Watermelon Super Chill Cooler Bag is the cutest!
  10. Yes, I’m obsessed with going to Mission for margs with my girls. The Margaritas With My Senoritas Crewneck from Tees And Tank You seems appropriate.
  11. We’ve burned through almost all of the Christmas clearance candles I stockpiled, but it’s time for fresher scents anyway! Bring on the Mimosa Kiki&Me Tumbler Candle!
  12. Stripes. Always stripes. But it doesn’t hurt to have an unexpected detail like this Women’s J.crew Ruffle Sleeve Top.
  13. Candace and I never had jellies because my mom was smart and knew they were painful, sweaty, and not great for your feet. I got the adult version for a music festival a few years ago, and quickly learned that for myself. But the Kate Spade New York Fanley T-Strap Sandal seem like a great, slightly more grown up, option.
  14. Mint is a tricky color for me, but once I have a tan, here I come for this Pintucked Swing Blouse.

You can’t pinpoint a stylist’s style. They may follow a fashion trend every so often, but most of the time, they come up with their own unique outfits and look ideas. One thing is for sure though; they always look amazing! Here’s your guide to dressing like a stylist so you can make sure all of your outfits are on point!

Women’s Hinge Texture Stitch Open Cardigan

Experiment With Textures

One thing you’ll notice about pretty much every stylist, is that their outfits are full of amazing textures. This stops them from looking samey and boring, especially if they are wearing an outfit predominantly of one color. For example, an all black outfit could look boring if no texture is used. Experiment with all kinds of different materials and textures in your outfits to keep them looking interesting and full of style.

Women’s Caslon Layer Look Drawstring Neck Tunic

Practice Layering Your Outfits

Layering your outfits is another key to keeping it interesting. The great thing about layering, is that it’s great for transitional weather when you’re not sure what you should be wearing. You can easily add layers or take them away as the weather changes. It can take a little practice to get this right, but you will get the hang of it in no time. When layering, it’s a good idea to experiment with hem lengths and things like that too.

Always Accessorize

You should never dress without considering what accessories you’re going to wear. Accessories help to enhance your outfit. Make sure you have a selection of accessories to choose from, from evening bags to necklaces. You can then choose accessories that make your outfit pop.

The Trick To Making Any Outfit Look Great

Did you know that there’s a little trick to making any outfit look great? You could be wearing jeans and a t-shirt, or a plain dress, but this trick will always work. Choose a smart pair of shoes, a luxurious looking bag, and a pair of nice sunglasses. They can be any style and color of course, but black will go with anything. Try it and you won’t believe what a difference it can make to your outfits!

Moschino Heart Leather Belt

Belt Up

The right belt can make an outfit look more pulled together. It can make even the plainest of outfits look amazing, and give you a bit of shape to boot. Skinny belts and thick belts work; it’s all down to what you prefer and suits your shape best.

Tan Leopard & Plaid Contrast Button-Up

Never Mix More Than 2 Prints Or 2 Clashing Colors

Stylists seem to be amazing at mixing prints and clashing colors. But there’s a rule if you want to start doing this. You shouldn’t mix more than 2 prints at once, or more than 2 clashing colors. By sticking to the rule of 2, you’ll be able to rock just about any look with ease!
Dressing like a stylist might take some practice, and you might even need to reassess your wardrobe to incorporate some better pieces, and get rid of those you don’t wear. However, it shouldn’t be long before your outfits are worthy of their own Instagram account!
