There is a very silly video that has made its way around the interwebz a few times- for girls who wear activewear, to do not-active things. I, admittedly, can be one of those girls. For the past two weekends, I’ve slid into yoga pants and a fun tank, covered up with a cardi, and ran all my errands that way. Yes, I actually made it to the gym (eventually), but I also didn’t mind being out and about in leggings with Uggs.

In my opinion, yoga pants are never for work (unless you work at a gym, yoga studio, etc.) but for weekends, it’s all good. Activewear also tends to run a little steep, so I’ve taken to checking out sites like Zaful. However, you do get what you pay for, and the pants don’t stay up as well, for example. Great for an easy Vinyasa flow, but maybe not for a sculpt class or anything with a lot of cardio or jumping.

This may be my favorite shoot of all time ever for several reasons. Firstly, Dani of Blonde in the District is a joy to work with and a total sweetie. She actually organized the brunch for a little group of us at Ambar– there were new bloggers and experienced bloggers and in betweens, like me. No judgment of anything that anyone was doing, just advice and problems we’ve all had and a great feeling of girl-power. I actually got some amazing advice from Alison of Wardrobe Oxygen. I’m going to paraphrase here but when I told her that recently I’d felt discouraged and even considered saying goodbye to LBC1, she told me to not give up on my blog, but since it’s mine all mine, mold it to be exactly what I want it to be. There is no right or wrong here.

Secondly, Dani picked this amazing spot for our shoot. The Fridge is a cool gallery down by Eastern Market, and apparently their mural outside changes all the time. I can’t wait to go back.

Thirdly, I was kinda diggin’ my outfit. It was actually decently warm on Saturday, and I was so happy to be without the bulky coat.I’ve been doing so much business casual on my blog that it was fun to break away from that. I’m also obsessed with my little milk purse. For whatever reason, I’ve wanted a milk carton purse for like a year. Kate Spade had one, Betsey Johnson had one, SkinnyDip London had one… and I wanted one, but didn’t want to spend a ton on a novelty bag. Hi Amazon.com for under $10 🙂

ok- so this is technically an outtake- but this may be my favorite

Remember last week or whenever how it got nice? And then it freaking SNOWED at the end of the week? And it wasn’t even nice snow it was gobs of slush. Gross. I was so ready for the week to end already and that was just the ice(ing) on the cake.

Anyway, I guessss it’s ok because it gave me a chance (maybe my last one of the season) to rock my Topshop from Nordstrom leopard fur coat (last seen here). I wanted to be both cozy and cute as I slid into the weekend and I think I got this.

Now, let’s talk weekend essentials. You know I love a good backpack, but the one I got last year was a little small. Hi gorgeous Eddie Borgo for Target Backpack in Thunder. The backpack so nice that my mom bought me the same one. And if you’re constantly on the go like me, you probably have a snack or two in your bag. When Myprotein asked if I could try some of their products, I jumped at the chance. I ordered Protein Cookies in white almond, Protein Chox in caramel nut, and their 100% peanuts peanut butter. I’ll be honest, the cookies were a little too almond-y for me, it was almost overpowering. And I could really taste whatever extra protein was in it. But the chox were great! They taste like a heartier snickers and are definitely better for your if you’re like me and have a 3:30 in the afternoon chocolate craving. The peanut butter? On apples, one of my favorite snacks/ deserts.

How do you get ready for the weekend?

Say that 5 times fast.

But no, really, I fully endorse any purchasing of products that leads to a healthier, and therefore, happier life. It took me a while, but I have found my fitness thing at CorePower. I’ve had one or two people that yoga isn’t “enough,” but I’ll tell you what- when I was going several times a week last summer, I got super toned super fast AND my head space was just better. Also, their sculpt classes get in that cardio and also, don’t tell me how to live my like while I’m doing something good for myself.

Within CorePower, I am part of SET- the Studio Experience Team. This is just a fancy way of saying that I get a great discount because I help maintain the space I love so much. Luckily, my day job is flexible so I can leave work at 4 on Wednesdays to head to my home studio in Glover Park. I adore my studio and the people who work/ practice there. It’s like a little yogi family. CorePower also has a great little retail situation going on- and between my style blogger searches, whimsical wants, and advice from my favorite instructor/ my manager, I’ve come up with a little wish list to motivate me in my practice.

the carolove fitness wish list

I got my first (and currently only) pair of Goldsheep leggings when I got to practice and discovered that my water bottle had leaked all over the pants I bought. They are fantastic! They don’t fall down, ride up, or get sweaty. I’m eyeing the Pink Leopard leggings (cropped) with the matching crop top.

Speaking of leaky water bottles- they suck. I’ve collected a bunch of cheap water bottles over the years free from events and such. Guess what? They all leak. Hands down, S’Well water bottles are the most popular. They come in a range of colors and patterns (the marble + rose gold staying on trend!) but I really love the Bondi Beach style!

Another studio favorite is the LuLu Lemon mat. I asked my manager about this because my current mat, while adorable, is just about shredded and generally looking loved. Her only critique is that it’s heavy (it is!) but since I can keep my mat at the studio as an employee, it doesn’t matter much to me. Since I am going to keep it there? She suggested a color since so many people have the black one. That popular.

Now, I know that yoga is a barefoot activity (just another reason to love it!) but Kendall walks me home from yoga and it’s about a 15 minute walk. It’s actually pretty nice to walk home together and cool down after being in a hot studio. Unfortunately, I usually forget my sneakers so I’m walking home in my flats or boots from work. If I’m going with the crazy outfits for practice, I’m thinking I should go all out and add the 80s retro Reeboks! My mom actually had a pair of these she sacrificed to a muddy field trip when I was in 7th grade. I wish wish wish I had salvaged them so I could have the real thing.

I always pack a long sleeve or a sweatshirt for two reasons: 1. because it’s cold right now and while I’m cleaning it can be a little chilly. 2. I hate sweating into my coats after class. This particular graphic top is on sale for under $10- making it the perfect situation to throw into your bag and sweat in- while still making a statement literally.

Last but not least, I know I said the mat on my wish list is a little heavy for lugging around, but I can’t resit personalized gear. The Essential Canvas Yoga Bag from Mark & Graham is just the thing if you are traveling with your mat.

What gear motivates your work out? Or what brands do you trust for your fitness needs?
