The only thing that does any good is to jump in a cab and go to Tiffany’s. Calms me down right away. The quietness and the proud look of it; nothing very bad could happen to you there. If I could find a real-life place that’d make me feel like Tiffany’s, then – then I’d buy some furniture and give the cat a name!

Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly, 1961

In case you don’t follow me on Facebook or Instagram, I wanted to announce my very first CaroLøve event here on the blog. This Saturday, at 8:30pm, I will be hosting a movie night at DC’s first (and currently only) cat cafe, Crumbs & Whiskers!

How this event came to be was a little bit of good timing and a lot a bit of brainstorming out loud. I LØVE C&W and have been there a few times with my roommate as it’s just down the street from us. The last time we went, we took my mom and while we were waiting to get in, we were telling her about movie nights- they’ve previously had The Lion King and Mean Girls, for example. Anyway, I got to thinking about movies that were cat themed or at least had a cat element that they could feature. I almost immediately thought of Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Not only is it one of my favorite movies because Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly is everything, but she has a cat named Cat. And Cat’s a relatively prominent character, if you will, in the 1961 classic.

So, I marched up to the nearest employee, Veronica, who is a total doll, and pitched her my idea. It just so happened with some timing issues that it would coincide with my relaunch and here we are.

Crumbs & Whiskers isn’t just a cafe with kitties- you can also adopt! In fact, since opening just over a year ago, they’ve adopted out over 100 cats! This makes my little heart so happy- I grew up with rescue cats. My Tabbers + her sister Jenny were left as babies with their mom at the shelter when their humans moved (may their furry souls rest in peace after 16 long years), Cookie was found in the woods and starving (permanently tiny because her growth was stunted), and my big boy Simba (Cookie’s bestest pal) was found in an alley by someone who used to use my vet. He’s really shy but I’ve never heard a cat purr more or louder than him. Basically, fur babies are everything. Adopt, don’t shop for your furrever friend. For those of you who are like “ew but there’s food and cats?” don’t worry! No food is prepared in the vicinity of the kitties- the coffee, tea, and macarons all come from Olivia’s normally and I’ll be bringing cupcakes to the movie.

If you’re interested in meeting me on O St. on Saturday, grab your ticket now! There are only 20 spaces available. I’ll be there in tulle and bling, but it’s a come as you are girls’ night out situation. I can’t wait to see some of my feline-loving pals + make some new friends!
