I am so psyched that this week is only three days for Kendall and myself. We haven’t had a trip in a while, and we’re going to Charleston for Sahra’s wedding with a stop on the way down and back to Myrtle Beach to visit some of my family. We’re like really good at long car trips together, braving a week-long drive from Mississippi with several stops along the way when we moved him up here, and a few trips back by car since then.
Next week, I’ll have my Chowderfest trip too! Now that I’m a grown-up with a full time job and responsibilities, it’s not so often that I get a weekend away, much less two in a row. While the trips serve different purposes, the bulk of both trips is going to be pretty casual. I have a crazy gown for Sahra’s wedding, but I’ll spend most of both trips in pretty comfy attire (especially as Long Beach Island will be pretty chilly at the ‘fest).
This time of year is pretty tricky, weather-wise, so layers are key. So is a (practical) variety of footwear. I’m kind of over over-packing (I used to be so bad about this), so I’m rather strategic in what actually gets to come with me for a weekend away. I tend to pack in coordinating colors to mix and match.
