Known for being in the eye of the beholder, beauty is an elusive and totally subjective accolade we would all like to be known for.  It doesn’t matter if you’re big or small, black or white, blonde or brunette – there’s someone out there that views you as the most beautiful person in the world.  It’s just a matter of finding them, right!!
Seriously though, beauty is subjective and whilst it’s important to do what it takes to get in shape and become a better you, it’s equally important to accept ourselves the way we are; yet we all get hung up on how we look from time to time.
As an example, so many attractive people are watching videos of breast augmentation and considering plastic surgery that simply isn’t necessary.  Often, this feeling of not being enough on the outside is transference of how we feel on the inside – but that’s for another post.  This article covers three fundamental aspects of making the most of your personal appearance… naturally.

YOUR SKIN
A great way to nurture your skin is by using natural products such as aloe vera, aromatherapy oils, and nutrient rich moisturizing oils such as jojoba and coconut. I’ve talked before about how much I love frankincense oil. I added a few drops of this one to my Brandless moisturizer and it literally shrank the cystic acne I had on my chin to nothing! However, one of the most overlooked aspects of keeping healthy skin, is to feed your skin from the inside out.
In many ways, our skin is an external representation of our internal biosphere; as an example, did you know the skin condition called psoriasis is often a stress response to either an emotional trigger or weak immune system? Â One of the best things you can do to nourish your skin from the outside in is to keep yourself well hydrated. I’ve also started taking a probiotic again for gut health and, apparently, skin health.
YOUR EYES
Again, hydration is key here.  If you have red, tired, bloodshot eyes with dark circles around them there’s a strong chance this is down to dehydration.  Either, your eyes are dehydrated by starting at a screen all day (external factor) or due to a lack of water in your body (internal factor).
There are many natural ways to keep your eyes looking refreshed, such as placing chilled cucumber or cold tea bags over your eyes in order to reduce puffiness.  You might not know this, but a less well known alternative to cucumber is to use potato slices. Potatoes don’t have the antioxidant properties of cucumber or green tea, but they’re great for reducing puffiness if you’re in a pinch.
YOUR SMILE
Oil pulling with coconut oil is a traditional Indian remedy that’s becoming increasingly popular but has been around for hundreds of years.  Apple cider vinegar is a natural disinfectant that effectively kills bacterial and baking soda is a natural whitener used in many commercial toothpastes due to its ability to whiten teeth.
Baking soda is mild abrasive that creates an alkaline environment in your mouth – preventing bacteria from growing. Â The best way to combine these ingredients is to make a homemade toothpaste with 1 teaspoon of baking soda, 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar, and 1 teaspoon of water. Â This can be used a few times each week in addition to your regular toothpaste.
In summary, beauty is subjective, make the most out of your natural beauty – do what’s necessary to improve your appearance but balance this with an innate acceptance of loving yourself just the way you are… and remember, beauty isn’t just on the outside, some of the most beautiful people in the world are not the most attractive – think of Mother Teresa for example!
