So, he’s popped the question, and you’ve said “yes!”, what happens next? Well, apart from all the stress in making sure everything goes according to plan, it’s not just about getting everything ready for you, but the groom too! Sometimes the groom can get swept along in the proceedings that he forgets to sort his main duties out or leaves them until the last minute. So, what are the most important things for the groom to get in place as soon as possible?

The Best Man And The Groomsmen

Hopefully, your other half has a best man in mind, but if not, he’ll have to nail it down pretty sharpish. Preferably as soon as the venue is booked, as it gives you a better idea of who is available. There have been nightmare stories about best men being so flaky that they pull out of best man duties because they can’t afford it, or it’s just proving to be too stressful for everyone concerned. Make sure that he picks the best man he believes in, but more importantly, trusts! The same applies for the groomsmen. They need to be trustworthy gentlemen, especially as they will be doing specific duties on the big day itself.

I’m not going to lie, rounding up the fellas has been much harder than getting my girls together. I cannot say enough how thankful I am for our best man for keeping it together and even letting me call and vent to him occasionally.

The Suit

While the dress has all the attention shone on it, it’s important for your hubby to be to get something that he wants, is in keeping with the theme you’ve got going, but also something he looks good in. You can see when grooms have picked a suit that is a typical three-piece and isn’t suited to their individual contours. You’d be better off purchasing custom wedding suits that can be tailor-made to fit your husband to be’s measurements. And remember, make sure he liaises with all the other key man in the ceremony, including whoever is giving you away. You need to make sure you’re all on the same page stylistically.

Kendall had his guys rent from Black Tux, a recommendation from multiple of my bride friends. He bought himself a custom Brooks Brothers suit and I can’t wait to see him in it!

The Bachelor Party

The only reason this is mentioned here is just in case there are potential clashes in the calendar. If your partner has a big stag do in mind, where they go away for a long weekend, or in some cases, a week, it’s better to get it nailed down in the calendar as soon as possible. The same applies if you plan on having a sprawling hen party so your social calendars don’t clash. Kendall is in Biloxi this weekend for is, I’m trotting off to Laytonsville to go over RSVPs to see who I need to hunt down.

Sizing And Resizing The Ring

It can take a few goes to get right, but it’s important to have this done as soon as possible. But also, double check that it still fits few weeks before the ceremony. So much can go on before the big day that the rings might be the last thing on you or your hubby’s mind. So make sure the ring fits. Otherwise it could easily fall off during the big day!

Of course, a lot of the duties involved with your wedding consist of the two of you sitting down and planning things together. But once you’ve got certain issues ironed out, it leaves you with a bit more peace of mind. Sometimes, the man can get swept along with various plans, he forgets about sorting his own! Pin it down!
