I can’t even remember when or why, but somehow the Bubbles & Bloggers girls were talking about how the 90s were making a serious comeback in fashion, as does every era. This lead to talking of the disastrous 2000s, and with that, of course comes the velour jumpsuits. I’ll be the first to admit that I mildly idolized Paris Hilton, and still think she’s kind of more of a genius than she lets on. And since my high school had a relatively strict dress code (no jeans!) I about lived in these pajama-feeling, candy colored, fashion nightmares. Once I hit college, I thought I had left velvet and velvet impersonators behind me.
I was wrong.
Now, I haven’t fully decided if the whole velvet thang is more 90s or 00s, but it doesn’t much matter does it? It’s having such a moment, and I’m thrilled. I think all of my Christmas dresses in elementary and middle school were velvet, and I don’t mind bringing that back. After seeing Roxanne in her blush crushed velvet top, I kind of wanted to hunt for my own similar look. Here’s the thing though- pick a piece, any piece, any one piece, and you’ll be good to go. No need to overdo it with head to toe. Put the bomber jacket with a white t + jeans. Top off your Saturday night outfit with the choker. Grab the sneakers instead of your favorite Adidas all stars. But for the love of all things good please do not try to wear everything at once. And if I had to pick one piece from this post to try, I’d go bold with the clear heel booties!

I really love velvet, but hardly ever get to wear it since it rarely dips below 60 degrees in LA! I love all these blush picks though, (especially #5!)

I love those heels too! I would seriously wear them in any color. I have very similar black ones and I lived in them all summer.
Love this trend, Caroline! Definitely going to have to give it a try myself.

I think I might jump on the velvet train but I need to start out slow. I love the choker as my first piece, but with the temperatures cooling off I feel like velvet is going to make quite the appearance in my cozy wardrobe. Great collection of items!

I’m still a bit skeptical of the velvet trend – but I am waiting for a velvet bomber jacket to arrive which I’m very excited about. Love your picks, too!
