Kendall and I finally made our way to the National Cathedral this past Sunday for their Sunday service, and I have to say- it was weird. The building, of course, is stunning, but I grew up going to a very small country church where everyone knows everyone. Kendall has been to my St. John’s in Olney with me several times and also loves how warm and welcoming it is. While I love the Cathedral for the amazing events I’ve attended there- my confirmation, my high school graduation, singing with choirs- it just wasn’t the same being there for Sunday service. We want something smaller + more community based to call home. We’re going to try other area churches close to Glover Park, but if we can’t find one that suites us, we can always head to St. John’s Lafayette where we already have friends. Do not get me wrong- the Cathedral is still one of my favorite places in the city and holds a special place in my heart, but it just didn’t feel like where we want to set down our church roots for an every Sunday routine.

This is probably the weirdest segue ever, but the inspiration from this post actually comes from the young woman sitting in front of me at church. She was dressed in that effortless, timeless, preppy way that I could never fully emulate- black midi skirt with a black blazer, pearls, and the most gorgeous scarf I have ever seen. It was likely a Hermès, but as you probably know about me, I don’t care so much about brand name as I do about style. While plaid scarf season is in full swing, I’m thinking about adding some pretty printed scarves to my collection.
