There was a definite chill in the air this weekend and I loved it. I had totally planned to wear my little Bobeau Ruffle Short Sleeve Dress to lunch with a friend on Sunday but woke up totally unprepared to schlep out to Alexandria in a mini dress. I ended up throwing together some easy layers and I swear I have never gotten the response on Instagram for an outfit in my stories ever. (You can still catch it on my OOTD highlights).

Honest moment here- I honestly don’t have the time or cooperating weather to get blog pics a lot of the time and I certainly don’t have the budget for a photographer. But I love sharing my finds and outfit ideas and inspiration. That’s why I started this blog. So for this post, I want to share the “anatomy” of the perfect fall casual outfit.

Drop Shoulder Cable Knit Cardigan||Short Sleeve Loose Casual Tee||Long Tassel Necklace||Lucky Brand Women’s Basel Boot||Skinny Jeans||Kenya Bag

This is my favorite way to dress on a chilly weekend- big sweater, oversized tee, skinny jeans, and booties.

Is is just me or are boyfriend cardigans like wrapping yourself up in a blanket? Pretty much all of my sweaters are boyfriend cardigans at this point- mostly in muted colors or neutrals and one neon shocker.

I started wearing oversized t-shirts in college when a) I gained some weight and b) I was usually found in sorority gear (much of it passed down and rather large on me). I’ve started knotting my really long ones and pairing them with pretty bralettes for when they fall off my shoulder.

Because I want to balance the volume of my outfits (and because boyfriend jeans make me look like a hippo) I stick to skinny jeans. I’ve been living in my Kensie jeans, which are supposed to be ankle biter. Spoiler alert: they are not ankle biter on me so I just cuff them myself. I also always size up for jeans- that way they’re not super skinny and *almost* a boyfriend fit without making me look huge.

A big bag and comfy booties serve a purpose- the bag I took on Sunday was big enough to throw in my water bottle and an umbrella. They make excellent and chick market totes too. Mine took me to Trader Joe’s for a just a few things for this week. My booties kept my feet dry and they go with everything. And the necklace? Well that was just thrown on for fun to break up my solid layers.
