I think Halloween is one of my favorite days of the year. I’ve loved dressing up probably since I could physically put costumes on myself. I started dancing when I was 5 and even putting on my recital pieces was a joy. When it came to Halloween, I usually had at least 3 costumes a year: one for our church Halloween party, one for the school Halloween party, and my main costume as a finale whenever I went trick or treating. Adulthood isn’t much different. I’ve never skipped a chance to dress up. Last year I was a basic witch and it was adorable. This year, Kendall and I are doing something together (you’ll see!) but I have a few other ideas I wanted to share, complete with pieces that you can wear in the real world, albeit, maybe not together. Disclaimer: we’ve been watching a lot of Netflix at Pride Rock.
Ok guys. You probably saw this one coming. I love Eleven of Stranger Things. She’s a pint-sized powerhouse with a vulnerability that makes you want to hug her but on the other hand she’s terrifying. Can anyone else relate? I’ve seen a lot of variations on this character costume-wise, and I’d likely chose the sans-bloody-nose route. The fact that you can add a jacket? Plus. Total plus.
She may be from last season, but I adore Sally from AHS Hotel. She just wants to be loved and keep her loves with her. Plus she’s sassy as hell and is totally rocking the 90’s vibes. Of course, it’s because she’s a ghost of someone who died in the 90’s but with that show it’s so hard to keep track of who’s alive or dead or a vampire or whatever so it’s fine. Any excuse to wear a leopard coat is ok by me. She also has a lot of costume changes so it’s easy to improvise as long as you have the coat!
Christina Ricci as Wednesday Addams is one of my favorite creepy girls of all time. She’s such a little brat but she’s also brilliant and gives one hell of a side-eye. This costume is something I think about doing every year- after I’ve already picked out my costume and committed to it. One of these days. Maybe once my hair gets long again.
Bonus Costume: Jackie-O-Lantern
