You may have caught it on my stories yesterday, but I made a major change over the weekend. Amanda at Illusions made my hair wedding blonde, and during that process, we discussed my going red in a very vague, in-the-future sort of way. But then we got the news that our girl is moving the Nashville to follow her dreams. I’m so happy for her but I’m v sad about losing my DC stylist, so as a last hurrah we decided to just GO for it.

When I was little I was blondie-blonde-blonde. The older I got, the darker my hair got, and the less the sun helped me lighten up in the summer. There is nothing better than a fresh, blonde highlight but tbh it’s a lot of upkeep with having dark roots.

I’ve messed around a lot with my hair since college, always going back to blonde, occasionally using a box with varying results. My hair tends to be unpredictable with the way it accepts and rejects color. For this venture, I honestly thought it would be a little more copper, but Amanda did a double glaze because red fades so fast. It’s a super dramatic change and I feel totally bad-ass.

The girls at Illusions (and Kendall) said the color made me look more mature. It also makes my eyes (my constant favorite part of me) really pop! Amanda also cut about 3 or 4 inches and it just feels so healthy and light! We kind of laughed that I walked in Ms. Downing and left Mrs. Price. Mr. Price is a huge fan. 🙂

Although this look feels super fun and fresh, I think I’ll probably slowly head back to blonde, but maybe a honey blonde or “tigers eye” because super-blonde is a whole hell of a lot of work, and I’m too low-maintenance for that. But for those more ambitious and dedicated to their blonde- check out this post by Dani (queen of the blondes!).

Soooo… what do you think?
