I have always been a powder blush gal, but since I started using Dr. Jart+
Cicapairâ„¢ Tiger Grass Color Correcting Treatment SPF 30, I’ve been using liquid blushes per the recommnedation of the Cicapair reviews. I still use powder if I really do my makeup, but most days it’s Cicapair, liquid blush, mascara, eyebrows, go!
What I’ve learned is that all liquid blush is not created equal. I’ve tried three very different kinds, all with their own merits and downfalls.
Now, keep in mind that my choice of shade is very specific to me. I work with mostly warm colors as I have fair skin, but with olive/yellow undertones. For blushes, I go for peachy, coral, etc. vs berry colors or anything that sides with cool.
Also, I apply by sticking a glob on my cheek then using a blush brush. Not sure if this is the right way to do it but it works for me!
Cloud Paint is the first liquid blush I tried. Honestly, after working with others, this one is my favorite. It’s also the one I get compliments on the most. One of my best friends asked me why I looked so glowy – pretty sure it was the cloud paint (I use the Beam shade)! The texture is creamy, but not sticky, and it’s easy to manipulate with my blush brush. I’m pretty well-stocked with my second favorite, but once I need a new tube, I want to try FLOWER BEAUTY Blush Bomb Color Drops for Cheeks. I heard this was a good dupe and depending on the sales, it can be about half the price.Â
Lano Baby Rose Gold 101 Ointment Balm & Tint comes in a close second and I have 4 tubes of this stocked up because Ulta was having a major sale. It’s definitely stickier than cloud paint, but it’s also easy to manipulate and I can use it on my lips. This one has a bit of a shimmer that I love, and feels moiturizing once its settled. Some of the reviews really don’t like the color, but I think it works for me as a cheek and a lip color. It’s less peachy than the other two I’ve reviewed, but it does lean warm rather than cool.
Even though I love the color of the Coral Sunrise SEPHORA COLLECTION Flushed Cream Blush, I have to say it’s my least favorite of the three. Reviews say that it has the texture of playdough, and I tend to agree. It’s almost spongy, and definately the hardest to manipulate. I don’t mind finishing the tube that I have, but I wouldn’t purchase again.
Do you use liquid blush? I’d love to hear about your favorite brands and why you love them!
