History repeats itself in some of the funniest ways. Kendall and I got married two days shy of my parents’ 30th anniversary, and also like my parents, we’re waiting a bit to take a big honeymoon and opted for a mini-moon to the beach. While my parents went to Long Beach Island, New Jersey, Kendall and I skipped off Ocean City, Maryland.

We cannot say thank you enough to the Reeds, family friends of mine, for graciously giving us their condo for the week so we could rest and and enjoy being married after all the excitement of the wedding. We spent much of the week cuddled up reliving all the little moments that made our wedding so special. Because we were in a condo and not a hotel, we were able to cook together- one of our favorite things. It was a little chilly, but we were even able to have breakfast outside overlooking the ocean.

Because it was the off-season, OCMD was D E A D. We went to the boardwalk and did the arcade and Ripley’s Museum, but many of the shops and restaurants were on extremely limited hours or flat-out closed. The point of our little trip was to relax, so this was fine by us, but the other thing that was cool is that Kendall got to experience down home Maryland. Folks were so friendly and everything was just moving at a slower pace. The one kind of fancy dinner we did out, we were one of three couples in the restaurant. We also went to Rehoboth + Dewey so I could show Kendall where my parents met and “danced the night away,” as Mathy puts it.

The snapshots from our trip were not about the outfits or even what we were doing, but about capturing little moments. I think now that we’re married and not planning the wedding, we’re appreciating the little moments more.

Anyone else do a mini-moon? Or is this strictly a Downing (now Price) thing?

you can’t *really* tell but there are dolphins out there
