My mom started a tradition a few years ago of getting vouchers for me for the Spirit of Washington and The Odyssey from our church’s silent auction. This year was no different and Kendo and I got them as Valentine’s Day gifts. We’ve now been on three of these together and it’s so fun to booze & cruise down the Potomac. It makes for a fun and different date, and I’m so happy being on the water.
Despite the wind this weekend, it was actually very pleasant for out bottomless brunch cruise on The Odyssey. We found a spot on the front of the boat that was sheltered from the wind but got all of the sunshine. We spent most of our time there soaking up some end-of-winter rays. I tell him all the time I feel cooped up in the winter, and being on a boat in the sunshine is the perfect cure.
We’ve done these cruises enough to know that not everyone follows the suggested dress code, but we like to snazz it up regardless. I’ve been looking for a reason to rock the black witchy-woman Free People find from Nordstrom Rack. Pair it with pink beanie and faux fur coat and I felt like some kind of cuddle captain sea-witch. I don’t even know what that means but I just loved the way it all came together. Like kind of The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou meets Margot Tenenbaum.
Caro fun fact: I love Wes Anderson movies. They soothe me.
But I digress. We’re nearing the end of winter, so get out there. Be it on a boat or for a little trip or even a walk outside.
