I’m a pool girl. After summers spent on swim team when I was younger, the pool just feels like home. I was lucky last summer in that the club my family belongs to was open with precautions – extreme cleanings, capacity limits, masks if you’re on the deck or moving around, etc. We actually did get turned away once because the pool was too crowded, which was annoying but I get it. The rules were there to keep everyone safe. I got to spend a lot of time in the sunshine somewhere that felt like home, a seltzer or iced tea or Corona in my hand. Usually I show up on denim shorts over a bathing suit and call it a day.
This weekend, I’m going to a pool party at Vida with a friend who got a cabana. It looks like it might be a cooler (boo!) Memorial Day weekend, so I’m actually planning and outfit, especially since we’ll be on a roof where there might be wind.
I have some travel plans this summer – down the shore to see some Phi Sig sisters and to West Virginia to go boating. Nothing tropical or particularly exotic, so I want to bring to bring those vibes myself. Loving a good tropical print and pops of color, but the LBD is a pretty great blank canvas to work with. Depending on how hot and sticky it is, I wouldn’t mind throwing a gold chain on too.
