Do you ever get a craving for smells, or is that just me?
I didn’t feel great yesterday, just allergies, but I took the opportunity of having this free time to snuggle back into bed for a couple of hours. As I was chillin’, I got slapped in the face with the memory of the smell of The Body Shop’s strawberry.
This isn’t particularly strange for me as I have a bizarre knack for olfactory memories. Orange Dial soap smells very particularly like my grandmother’s upstairs bathroom… I was four the last time I was there. And the last time I used the Body Shop’s Strawberry Body Butter I was 17. I got it while I was on my Lead America program and for some reason felt like I needed to tourist shop at Union Station with the rest of the kids who weren’t from DC.
Anyway, now all I can think of is strawberries. I’m glad that they’re a motif for summer and as I’m sitting here in a sweatsuit in May, looking out my window at grey skies and chilly weather, I think we need all the summer we can get.
