So whoever you’re giving gifts to this season, we believe these are the top 5 options you or anyone else has.
Linum Home Textiles Monogrammed Large Terry Bathrobe
The dressing gown
Largely vanished from mainstream fashion, the dressing gown or rather, bathrobe is a great gift option. Why? Well, it’s very tactful, as the mornings will be extra chilli, and it’s something that is practical. If you ever feel like getting up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, you want to put something on quickly, that is both convenient but also very warm. So, a high-quality woollen or cotton dressing gown is recommended. What style?
- English. Usually always navy blue with stitching that is along the edges in a darker or lighter blue.
- Yale. Blue with white stitching, it has a wider lapel and thicker hem. This is mean to fit you like an overcoat instead of a conventional bathrobe
- Turk. Red velvet or satin, incredibly soft and usually has gold, bronze or silver stitching. It is longer than the Western designs but is made from a thinner material.
Bamboo & Slate Cheese Board
Don’t go nuts
Despite being locked down for a long time and feeling like you’re going to rip somebody’s head off, you don’t have to go nuts per se. These kinds of deliverable gifts are highly recommended for those that love snacking. Try the roasted salted nuts. They are a mixture of walnuts, peanuts, hazelnuts, cashews and almonds. There’s nothing better than snacking on a bowl of salted roasted nuts, some chocolate, coffee and a good show to watch. If you’re going to be locked down, do it in style.
Long live Wellington
A chap from England, called Arthur Wellesley, made wellington boots famous. These tall boots that were initially made for riding, have become the go-to wear for winter. Why? Well, we would like to explain this in the form of design and materials they use now.
- Neoprene. This material is a lot like fleece. It’s very thin but very warm. It’s dense, flexible and able to mold around your foot and leg.
- Natural rubber. The mixture being used is 60-40 for most high-end wellies. This lends it to be flexible, warm and able to withstand hot and cold.
- Belt and calf. The modern wellies are no longer straight and tall. They are curved at the calf for a better fit and the belt on the side makes it possible to wear them tighter.
Dents Leather Silk-Lined Gloves
Dents 1777
Perhaps the best glove brand in the world, this brand emanates from England. It is one of the last globemakers in the world, to still use peccary. Peccary is a very exotic leather that is tough, rugged, and can last you a lifetime. This leather is difficult to use because it can only be stitched by hand and not by machine. The leather cannot be pierced as easily so only doing it by hand and directing the needle through is the way to make these gloves. Their high-end peccary gloves with cashmere lining are to die for. Warm, stylish and rustic.
Buffalo Check Print Double Breasted Pea Coat
Peacoat or topcoat?
If you have a special man in your life, a nice peacoat would be a great gift in winter. Worn by Scottish sailors, the peacoat is for the man under 40 and can be worn both in town and in the country. Just make sure, you get a peacoat which has an Ulster collar. The button that is underneath your collar, is to be done when the collars are fully erect. This gives your neck protection from the wind and acts as a deflecting design.
A top coat is not as formal as an overcoat or greatcoat, but it’s in the middle. It’s a single-breasted woolen coat, with three buttons and slide pockets. It’s great for any man that wants to have a casual but formal coat that will keep the upper leg warm.
Winter gifts are hard to get right but as you can see from this inspirational list, it’s not impossible. We think that practical gifts are the best way to show your friend or loved one you care about them in these tumultuous times.
