I personally love North Carolina, and not just because one of my oldest friends lives there. I love how it has the appeal of the south but doesn’t feel so far away or different from DC, at least Raleigh where I’ve spent a little bit of time! There are plenty of awesome things to see and do in North Carolina. For starters, you should consider visiting these brilliant places.
North Carolina Art
Cashiers
Book one of the Chinquapin lodges or cabins and you can stay right in the heart of Cashiers. This small village is located right in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and perfectly placed for anyone who wants to get out and about in the beautiful North Carolina countryside. There are plenty of hiking and mountain bike trails, and there’s also some horse riding on offer as well. No matter where you go in this pretty region, you will always come across some gorgeous scenery for your holiday snaps.
Biltmore Estate
The largest stately home in America, the Biltmore Estate is famous for a number of reasons. It was built in the 19th century, and is known to be one of the few remnants of the Gilded Age of America. When you visit the estate, you can browse most of its stately rooms, many of which have been kept in their 19th-century finery. Once you’ve finished exploring inside, you can start on the 8,000 acres of grounds and gardens.
Morehead Planetarium And Science Center
It’s thought that around 7 million people have visited the Morehead Planetarium and Science Center since it opened its doors in 1949. You’ll find it in the grounds of the University of North Carolina. There are lots of educational shows to watch while you are there, and most of the exhibitions are hands-on and interactive.
Chimney Rock State Park
Â
If you want to discover even more of North Carolina’s thrilling scenery and landscapes, you should spend a few days discovering the Chimney Rock State Park. Nature lovers can head off along the numerous trails to explore the park. There are also lots of events and exhibits that teach you about the local flora and fauna, and also tell you about the history of the park. Kids will love the animal discovery den, where they can come face to face with some of the animals that live in the park.
North Carolina Aquarium
There are more creatures waiting to see you at the North Carolina Aquarium. The aquarium is split into four areas, each with different animals for you to see. It’s also known for its very large group of sharks who call the aquarium home. The majority of sea life on show, though, are all native creatures to the North Carolina shore.
So, are you now tempted to take a trip to this fantastic American state? You certainly won’t be disappointed if you do.
