I think if anyone could pinpoint one specific look that is my style, this would be it: t shirt dress, denim jacket, flats (flat boots, sneakers, loafers- anything flat) and a big old bag to toss my life in. I wanted to get one more wear out of this Jack Wills dress before it got too cold, and even Monday was pushing it, but as I was bustling around my office I just realized that I felt me.

Proportion-wise, it’s sometimes hard for me to find clothes because I’m short but big on top. The t-shirt dress seems to be made specifically for me. I can show off my legs, which I love, and cover my bust and shoulders, which I don’t love so much. The best part? It also happens to be Kendall’s favorite style on me, probably because I feel so confident in t-shirt dresses. The navy + white stripes on this one keep it classic, but I also will never ever think I have enough solids.

The denim jacket is like a security blanket to me. When the jacket I made in 8th grade covered in patches from Hot Topic tragically ripped last Easter, I wasn’t sure what I was going to do. That jacket saw me through all of high school, and much to my sorority sisters’ dismay, all of college. It covered my problematic shoulders/ arms and, in my opinion, it went with just about everything besides other denim. No Canadian tuxedo for me, thanks. The replacement is softer and hasn’t been “patched” yet, but it’s still my go-to jacket for in between weather and if I want to cover up a little with zero effort. I turn to my denim like most women my age turn to their leather.

The flats actually came to me in the form of a message on Pinterest from one of my best girls.  The day I got them H&M was having a sale so I ended up with two pairs of flats for $11 or something outrageous. My other pair was last seen here. You’d think that flimsy flats would be hell on the city-dweller with high arches, but these are actually some of the most comfy flats I’ve ever owned. The pink grr adds that’s little bit of kitschy Caroline that my friends have come to expect- and is totally the reason that B Hy sent them my way!

I’m sorry that I’m not at all sorry that I’m rocking my Alice bag again (last seen here). Part of it, honestly, is just laziness. Once I get going with a good bag it’s hard for me to want to switch purses. This one has been amazing this fall and worked with this (basically neutral) outfit.

I think it’s ok to strip down and get back to basics. That’s also why I love my grapefruit Perrier. I’m not big on soda and I haven’t been one for booze recently, but dang I love my bubbles! No, this post wasn’t sponsored by Perrier or anything, I just love having a guilt-free but fun drink I can throw into my big purse and sip on if I need a little lift without the calories.

How do you strip down to basics?
