As soon as summer approaches and the weather warms up, we all start to looking forwards to a well-deserved vacation. There’s just something about longer days and lighter nights that makes us all long for a week or two away from it all. So, before long, you find yourself trying to figure out where to go. But, in this beautiful country, there are just so many possible vacation locations to consider.

For those of you not based in the states, you’ve got a wealth of experience just waiting to be had. With different climates and cultures, we really do have it all. If you’re a US citizen, you might be considered heading abroad, over to Europe or even further East to get a different dose of culture and atmosphere. And while international travel can be exciting, there’s just so much to see stateside, that you might want to think about staying around here for a little while longer.

Start With A City

There are so many incredible places to see across these united states, but if you’ve not yet seen some of the more notable places, that’s where you might want to start. Like New York City. You don’t even have to be a city fan to fall in love with it. Not only have you got lots of sightseeing to do, but the food and culture will make your stay. But before you book, if you’re not a US citizen, make sure you sort out your ESTA Visa Waiver Program first.

Go Off The Grid

If you’re looking for the kind of vacation experience that is completely different to a city, then you might want to think about getting away from classic civilization for a bit. Whether you like the idea of being at one with nature, staying where it’s quiet, or enjoying a slower pace of life for a while, heading to somewhere like the Three Rivers Recreation Area in Oregon, Chitina in Alaska or New Camaldoli Hermitage in California, could be exactly what you need to enjoy a raw slice of American life.

Enjoy Southern Living

Maybe you like the idea of a quieter vacation spot, but you still want to be in and among it all. Whether you live in the US or you’re just visiting, enjoying a little southern living could be all you need. If you want to wander around food markets and vintage stores, enjoy good home cooking and see some pretty breathtaking natural sites, our southern states have a lot to offer, especially somewhere quaint and charming like Charleston, S.C.

Drive The Pacific Coast Highway

When you want a sense of adventure, what could be better than taking a road trip across the iconic Pacific Coast Highway? With the wind in your hair and the open road in front of you, travel never seemed so exciting. Not only can you choose your stops along the way, but you can also customize your trip to see incredible sights or enjoy tasty food, or even head to a cultural event or two along the way. Out in California, the road really is your oyster.

See New England

From the west coast all the way up to the east, let’s talk about New England. This part of the country is so scenic and pretty, that can be that one spot that you want to vacation at, time and time again. Not only have you got a lot of college towns to see, but you have the lakeside resorts and smaller settlements that can offer you a calm vacation experience. From Boston, MA to Providence, R.I, New England can make an incredible tour-like vacation that fills you with thought.

Head To Aspen

If you live out in New England, or you’re looking for something completely different, Aspen could be the spot for you. With some of the best ski slopes in the country, a vibrant social scene and great shops and restaurants, spending your time in one of the iconic ski resorts could be just the kind of relaxing vacation you need right now. Just pack your skis and away you go.

Take In D.C.

When you want an authentic slice of culture, why not head to Washington D.C.? Our country’s capital offers a lot of visitors. Not only have you got the same breathtaking scenery and culture as other tourist hotspots across the country, but you also get the political heritage that comes with it. If you have kids or teens, or an avid interest in history or politics, this could make the ideal vacation spot for you this summer.

Experience Lake Life

For a relaxing vacation that isn’t quite what you’re used to, why not head to a lake? Lake life can provide you with the perfect backdrop and atmosphere for some much-needed time out. Not only are the views incredible, but you can often enjoy a small slice of this humbling lifestyle. From time spent out on the lake itself, to meandering around the local sites and enjoying a home-cooked meal in your cottage or cabin, it can be just what your mind and body needs.

Beach Bum It

With all the culture our 50 states offer, of course, we have killer beach life too. If you live out in the country, or even a city, heading south for the summer could be the only thing on your mind. Or, if you’re international, but you still want to enjoy a traditional summer spot, head to somewhere like Miami. With so many beaches, cultures and atmospheres available, you’ll definitely find a great resort for your family holiday or girls week away.

Las Vegas Photograph

See Both Sides To Vegas

And, of course, there’s always Vegas. If you’ve never been to Vegas before, the draw could be getting strong. So bite the bullet and finally head to the city that never sleeps and see if you can strike it rich. But if the showy side of Vegas hasn’t hooked you, there’s also the quieter, more cultural side of Vegas to explore too.

Depending on what holiday you are considering this year there are always two packing options. Over packing and filling your suitcase with items you know, deep down you’re never going to end up wearing, and therefore suffering the unnecessary stress of lugging heavy luggage around airports and train stations.

Or you can pack lightly. Carefully planning your essential items that you can mix and match, so that you have versatility to your holiday wardrobe whilst ensuring that your holiday traveling is light and easy. Here are our top tips on packing lightly, for two different holiday types, so your holiday traveling is easy, relaxed, light and stress free.

Sunny, Beach Holidays

If you are planning a sunny, summer holiday somewhere tropical like Barbados, Bali or even Barcelona, then packing lightly is easy! Traveling to warmer climates mean lighter materials and less of it, making packing as easy as A, B, C

Summer dresses are a dream as they barely take up any room, so this is a clothes type that you can afford to be a little indulgent in. 4-5 summer dresses should be sufficient as you can mix and match with belts, hats, shoes and different jewelry so that your outfits look fresh and flexible each day.

Maxi skirts, depending on their material, can be very bulky, so if you are a big maxi skirt fan (aren’t we all) consider packing one and traveling in the other to free up more space in your bag.

We all love a good summer hat for lounging around on the beach and meandering around local markets, but they are a nightmare to pack. Therefore again, traveling in your summer hat means they won’t get squished and bent out of shape whilst being crammed into tight suitcases.

Summer shoes are a breeze to plan for as flat sandals take up barely any suitcase space and are an effortless transition from beach to evening glam. Any chunky wedges, again can be worn on the travel to free up more space in your luggage.

Mild, Countryside Holidays

If your summer is going to be in the countryside your wardrobe is going to be all about the layers, so you’ll have to think slightly more strategically if the weather is going to be a little milder and more unpredictable.

So 1-2 pairs of jeans and/or trousers should be sufficient. One comfortable and one smart pair that you can dress up should be enough to last you a week. Skirts and shorts will also be necessary, even in the countryside, so pick your favorite pair of shorts and one or two skirts and you will be able to mix and match all week depending on the weather.

Think of your favorite long sleeve t-shirts, pretty floral tops and relaxed tunics. Then choose a cardigan and jumper that will go with all and you will have your top half ready to churn up into several different combinations. Choose a jacket that can offer warmth for those cooler evenings but can also look chic in the day with just a t-shirt or vest. Leather and denim jackets are really versatile in the spring, summer months so traveling in your jacket will free up at least half of your luggage (if you’re traveling with just hand luggage that is).

Get all your items out on your bed, before packing them to visual what will go with what and how many outfit variations you will get out of what you’ve chosen. Once you’re happy that you have enough versatility and flexibility in your outfits, you’re good to go. Nice and light, heading off into your holidays relaxed and stress-free.

Summer is almost upon us – the temperature’s soaring which means that we’re all thinking one thing: how do we escape our everyday lives and get out into the sun? Daydreaming about going on vacation is something that pretty much all of us have in common – and in this increasingly busy world it can be hard to find time to plan it out properly. But if you have vacation days and a little cash to spend, get online immediately to book the perfect relaxing vacation away from absolutely everything. Here are some of my tips for vacations you could take this summer…

Sunrise at the Beach

A Local Weekend

First of all, if you don’t have huge amounts of funds or vacation days, then why not try a local long weekend? A lot of us end up missing out on our local vicinity and everything that’s going on there because we’re constantly looking to other places for more exotic ideas and trips – but let’s face it, anywhere that you haven’t been before is an adventure, and finding a beautiful place on your own doorstep will fill you with happiness. You could enlist your partner, a friend or a family member to go with you – or you could just go along by yourself! Sling a couple of days’ worth of clothes in the back of your car and drive to the nearest tourist location that you’ve never been to. It could be Atlantic City, it could be Virginia Beach, it could be the lakes up in New Hampshire – no matter where you go, make sure that you have a list of things to do each day to make the most of your short vacation.

A Cruise

Is there anything that’s more relaxing than spending a week sailing the high seas? (Actually, that makes it sound a bit like you’ll be a pirate for a week, which doesn’t sound very relaxing at all – all that climbing the rigging and and sword fighting and avoiding the first mate’s pet parrot…) A cruise is the best way to relax and get to see the world – and even better, you won’t have to plan it all out yourself like you would if you went on a road trip or on a backpacking adventure. Check out these cruise questions and answers if you aren’t really sure where to begin – there’s a huge variety of cruises that you could go on, from the clear blue seas of the Caribbean to the Yangtze River! You’ll also get the best in fine dining in the evenings on board the ship too – what could be better?

Welcome to our Beach House

A House By The Ocean

If you really want to chill out, then it’s time for you to rent a house by the ocean. Nothing more, nothing less. Go somewhere with great restaurants that won’t make you dress up too much when you go to them in the evenings. Take your dog, take your favorite person – or go alone with nothing more than your laptop to start writing the next great novel, or your kindle to finally get through that stack of mysteries that you always wanted to read. Spending some time somewhere quiet and beautiful is a great way to get your psychological health back into gear, which will help you get through the colder winter months excellently.

A Trip With Friends

What could be better than going away with your friends? It’s one of the best possible ways to vacation – just make sure that you’ve agreed on budgets and where you all want to go and what you want to do before you go away, because let’s face it: nothing ruins a good vacation like bickering. Go somewhere where you can all enjoy eating out together in the evenings, drinking cocktails and going dancing – and take the time out to reconnect with each other. Friendships are harder to maintain when you’re an adult and school and college are over, but going away together is the best possible way to rekindle that spark.

Blue Hour in the Amalfi Coast

A Romantic City Break

Finally, why not be a tourist for a week and go to a city for a romantic break with your partner? NYC is beautiful over the summer, if incredibly hot – or you could go to Europe to take in the south of France or the Amalfi Coast for glorious sights and beaches in Italy, along with all the incredible pasta and pizza that you can force into your mouth. Going away with your partner will strengthen your relationship even more, and give you beautiful memories to share.

One of the best things about going traveling is getting to relax on stunning beaches. After all, as well as getting to soak up the sun, you get to enjoy the beautiful views of the sand and sea. And if you opt to visit one of the most stunning beaches in the world, you will also get to experience the crystal blue waters and soft sand. Also, beaches are a lot more useful than just for sunbathing! You can do a wealth of fun water-sports like diving and surfing which are memorable on your travels. And I think we all have a list of beaches that are must-do at least once during our lifetime.

Three Pom Pom Tote

Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia

Australia is known for its beautiful beaches. In fact, thousands of travelers head there every year to enjoy the stunning beaches in the country. There are some in particular though that have everyone flocking year after year. The most famous one is Bondi Beach which is situated in the capital of the country, Sydney. The beach is one of the most stunning on our list with plenty of gorgeous sand and blue waters. It’s also brimming with life all year round. You can expect activities a plenty to be happening on the beach. They have events like kite flying and surfing competitions during the summer months. And if water sports are what you are after, you will love the opportunity to surf on the beach. In fact, you will find locals who will be willing to show you how to catch some waves. And you can also hire a jet ski if you fancy getting your adrenaline pumping. If you want to enjoy a coastal walk, you can do this as well at Bondi Beach. And then you can spend the evenings at the beach where you can find plenty of food and drink places. Also, beach parties are common and last until sunrise! Remember if you want to get some space to sunbathe, you have to go early as the beach is so popular. For somewhere less touristy, you could always go to Turquoise Bay. It’s stunning with its turquoise waters and pure white sand. And you can even get closer to marine life by snorkeling at the Ningaloo Reef!

Kailua Beach Park in Oahu, Hawaii

If you think of a country with the best beaches, it’s likely that Hawaii will spring to mind. After all, thousands of people go there every year to enjoy the stunning beaches on offer. As well as the amazing hula parties and delicious food! However, one beach in particular which often gets people talking and is on my bucket list is the stunning Kailua Beach Park in Oahu. The beautiful beach boasts three miles of glorious sand and crystal-clear water. Therefore, thousands flock there to enjoy some sunbathing while on their travels. And not only is it good for topping up your tan, but it has plenty of water sports too. For example, there is a volleyball court, and people willing to teach you how to windsurf. And there are even picnic areas so you can have a break from your sunbed to enjoy some grub when it’s time for lunch. Or you could even head to one of the eateries. Former President Obama can often be spotted in the Island Snow one which is close by to the beach! And you could even consider camping on the stunning beach at night. After all, you can then get a great spot in the morning! And there are plenty of fun things to do in Oahu. Therefore, if you want a break from the beach, there is a lot more you can do in the surrounding area!

Rabbit Beach in Lampedusa, Italy

When it comes to Italy, there are many reasons why people visit there every year. The amazing landmarks such as the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Colosseum are definitely a draw. Also, the delicious food also gets people’s mouth watering. After all, we all love a pizza or a pasta dish. In fact, Italian is one of the world’s favorite cuisines. But it’s also the beaches which are a draw for many people. A lot of people go to places like Sicily and Sorrento for beach holidays every year. One place you might not have heard of but is a beach which you should add to the bucket list is Rabbit Beach in Sicily. The stunning beach has been even voted the best beach in the world by various surveys. For one thing, people visit for the stunning features of the beach. Not only has it got clear water and white sand, but it’s surrounded by gorgeous hillsides. The small beach is also a favorite with marine life fans. After all, you might spot a sea turtle laying an egg which will be unforgettable! And you can enjoy a spot of sunbathing if you manage to grab a spot early at the beach.

Pink Sands Beach in Harbour Island, Bahamas

The Caribbean is definitely one place a traveler would go if they were looking for fabulous beach. In fact, it’s often named to have the best beaches in the world at its many islands. In fact, thousands of travelers head to the islands like Dominican Republic, Cuba, and the Bahamas to make the most of the gorgeous beaches. Therefore, it can make it a challenge to add just the one to the list of fantastic beaches. But one beach which is unique is the Pink Sands Beach in the Harbour Islands. With the stunning pink backdrop, it’s no surprise that it’s often used for photographs and in films! The pink color comes from the crushed coral which creates a dramatic effect. Not only will you want to take photos at the beach, but you will want to relax on the stunning sand. And it’s also an ideal place to snorkel as it boasts shallow waters!

Just remember to always check the weather before visiting any of the above. After all, it will definitely rain on your experience if the weather is bad!
