Thanksgiving is right around the corning, kicking off the holiday season. On our schedule, Kendall and I have a wedding that Saturday, one of my bridal showers, my office holiday party, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve. That’s at least five festive looks that need to be accompanied by some holiday frosting. Bling girls, glitter.

Besides my birthday, this is the time of year that is officially sparkle season, but that doesn’t mean you have to break the bank. My advice for holiday style on a budget- start with a black velvet dress and stock up on fun accessories to change the look so you can wear it at least twice for the season. The same black dress is going to look totally different with heels vs boots and a cardi vs a leather jacket, depending on the occasion.

I’ve been especially into statement earrings recently, which look super pretty with up-dos for those fancier occasions. I wouldn’t really chunk a big necklace with big earrings or a big bracelet with a big ring. Too much bling all in one place can look overdone, but if that’s what you’re going for you do you boo!

What’s your favorite accessory for the holidays?

There’s a little nip in the air- actually, it may not even be a nip it’s just not HAWT. This means that my least favorite time of the year is winding down. I had a pumpkin spice bagel yesterday. Fall is coming. But it’s not quite here yet.

Last night, Bubbles & Bloggers had their August meet up at the Embassy Row Hotel with special guests from  StyleMeBar. We try to pick out a theme for our events, and this month is was “come wearing your favorite summer outfit.” Kind of perfect for the last B&B bash of the summer.

My outfit was one that has been on repeat since June. The dress, which I also have in pink, is a style I wasn’t sure would work on me but I LOVE. I can’t do off the shoulder, but a cold shoulder has been my sassy go-to way to wear the trend. I just have to pop on a great Stella & Dot necklace and the softest loafers (an excellent TJ Maxx find) and I have an outfit in 3 easy steps. I’ve also been carrying around this sweet bag from The Kate Spade at Clarksburg Premium Outlets. You might have noticed it in my engagement pictures– but it makes for a great tote while I’m lugging my life around DC.

I find that I really love a statement necklace to jazz up pretty much any outfit that I wear. Since this dress is solid, I usually grab my York Necklace to add some color and texture to it. And it is absolutely zero secret that I adore Stella & Dot. I still need to spend my reward bucks from the online style session I hosted, but I’m glad I waited becauuuuuse Stella & Dot is offering 25% OFF sale items, which means you can save up to 50% on your favorite pieces! This sale is on now and will expire on Wednesday, 9/6.

A couple weeks ago, Kendall + I had a serious discussion about adventuring. With his work schedule,  it’s harder to plan weekend romps and day trips, so we decided we need to at least explore this great city that we live in more. My old roommate was having a birthday get together, so we decided to take the morning for us and just walked around the DuPont/ Logan Circle area.We grabbed sushi at one of the few places that is open between 2 and 5, and Kendall asked if he could take some pictures for my blog since he’s noticed that I haven’t been doing many outfit posts. (He’s such a great insta-husband-to-be.)

So, I actually got this top thinking it was a dress. I put it on, and Kendall was visibly confused. I stuck my white jeans on under it, and it definitely looked better. This is one of those outfits I think my mom will hate- it features skulls, ripped jeans, and a cold shoulder. But I think it’s fun! It makes for a great weekend outfit especially if I’m stuffing my tum full of sushi, cupcakes, and drinkies from Orange Anchor, like I did that day.

I’m so into the western skull motif kind of out of nowhere- see my other western-inspired picks below my outfit details!

If you’re friends with me or follow me on any of my social media, you may have gotten an invite to my Stella & Dot online style session. If not, feel free to invite yourself now! I’m hosting it along with my friend and Stella & Dot stylist, Erica. There’s nothing you have to do and nowhere you need to go- just style inspiration and some of the cutest accessories you’ve ever seen! I’m a huge Stella & Dot fan and have been for years. My of my favorite pieces are from there!

I’ve actually considered becoming a stylist myself and talked about the perks of becoming a Stella & Dot stylist a while back on my blog. While I still don’t feel like I have the time to devote to being a great stylist, I can borrow Erica and pretend I’m a stylist during my virtual trunk show. And that doesn’t mean I don’t like to look for myself.

I want to share some of my all-time favorite pieces to get you in the mood to shop my Stella & Dot online style session! I have the pieces in the top row on heavy rotation. The bottom row is my wish list!

If you saw my TGIF post yesterday, you saw that I gave up shopping for Lent. This is actually kind of a big deal for me because Lent happens to fall around my birthday, and I’m a big fan of the treat yo’self mentality- especially while being the March Birthday Princess. But I’m sticking to it- the point of Lent is NAHT to do something easy, but to sacrifice something (or add something- volunteer, daily devotions, go to church more) in order to get closer to Jesus. I also truly do not need a thing.

This also makes for fun online window shopping though- no pressure because I can’t buy anything anyway. Enter the Shopbop stock up sale. Now, I have to agree with Rox that stock up sales aren’t usually my jam. To me, a stock up sale is when Loft is 60% off everything and a I buy a bunch of staples. I usually hit the point of free shipping then stop- half the stuff goes back anyway because I generally find that my body is hard to put clothes on, but I digress.

Even though I’m not super crazy about the idea of spending more to save more, Shopbop is on point for spring. My wallet would take a hit for sure. I do like that it includes full + sale price items. Today is the last day of the sale, so if you are looking to stock up, 15% off of $200 of spring looks isn’t such a bad deal, and tbh you can probably hit that with just one or two items.the carolove shopbop sale
