Last week, I got a fun invite from Dani to go to a special screening of Ocean’s 8 at the National Museum of American History. I actually had really wanted to see it so I jumped at the chance to view in such a cool venue. Plus, there would be wine. PLUS, it was a black tie optional event. Hello. Nice little way to spend a Thursday.

You may have seen my Instagram stories where I uncomfortably walked from Farragut North to the museum, but if I’m being honest I actually felt fab. I got my dress for Sahra’s wedding, and rarely do I have a chance to wear it. It’s one of those amazing Amazon treasures that I’m SO happy with. Unfortunately, it’s way sold out, so I linked some similar dresses below.

The new thing I’ve decided is that every woman should have a “gown” that can travel well. This one was folded in a backpack for most of the day but I don’t think you would ever know it. It also traveled to a destination wedding and has now been through the wash twice. Is it really a gown? Debatable. But it sure can pass! It’s just funky enough to grab attention, especially since I paired it with my fun little Sadie Clutch {courtesy of} The Sis Kiss! I was just throwing pattern mixing to the wind and wanted to be fun and enjoy my black tie optional night out!

The movie was too cute! Ocean’s 11 is one I could watch over and over again but this one was funnier. I won’t give any of it away, but I will say GO SEE IT! Go see it with your girl friends. (Although, we ran into Juju and her BooBoo and he liked it too!) I will say even though it was cool to go to a movie at the National Museum of American History, the theater isn’t the greatest. The sound was a little muffled and I’m now used to cushy, reclining seats. Definitely awesome to go to the event, not as awesome for the actual viewing.

Question for you today: what random event have you been to that could only happen in DC?
